Darling Daisies Cake

This was another cake made for my Wilton class (Fondant & Gumpaste). These sweet little daisies are made of gumpaste and everything else is in fondant. A perfect cake for the spring.

Lovely Lilies Cake

This is the final cake from Wilton Course 3. It's a two tiered cake embellished with lilies made of Royal Icing and dusted with luster dust. The cake itself is covered in fondant with buttercream string work.

The Gift of Cake

This cake was the last cake I made for my Wilton classes. It was the final cake of the Wilton Fondant & Gumpaste course.

This is a cake that is completely covered in fondant. The little flowers, the bow and the curly ribbons are all made of fondant. The gift of cake is always appreciated!

Father's Day Golf Cake

I made this cake last year for Father's Day. My dad loves golf so I thought this cake would be perfect.

This cake is iced in buttercream. The "sand" is dyed sugar, and the "rocks" around the sand are little balls of fondant. In addition, the tee-sign is fondant on a piece of spaghetti!

This cake got rave reviews. Dad loved it, although both mom and dad said they had a hard time cutting into it!!!

Basket-weave Cake with Spring Flowers

This was the final cake in the Wilton Course 2 class. We worked on making flowers of Royal icing each week and then on the last class we learned the basket weave technique and embellished the cake with the flowers.

Royal Icing dries rock hard, lasts an indefinite amount of time, and you can do many different flowers with it. These flowers are great when you want to add a little something extra to an otherwise simple cake. They really dress up and add a bit of whimsy to whatever cake you put them on.

Sugar Flowers

In addition to doing cakes, I'm also not opposed to making sugar flowers, dot's, designs, etc. for clients. This person originally wanted me to do a cake for her sister's anniversary party, but unfortunately I was going to be out of town during the party so I couldn't do the cake. So she asked if I would just make her the flowers and she would make the cake. This was fine with me. The colors were blue and silver which is what she wanted the flowers to look like. The flowers and dots were made of gumpaste and dusted with luster dust.

A Sample Cake

For certain clients/cakes, I make a sample cake before making the actual cake. For really specific designs, I like to show the client what's in my head to make sure it matches what's in theirs. I also do this if they want to try a certain flavor combination. This is an example of a sample cake for a "pea in the pod" themed baby shower. The client ended up loving it, so I went with this "theme" for the finished product. To view the finished cake click here.
